5 people arrested in the case of abducting Lady Gaga's dogs

Five people were arrested Thursday in connection with the kidnapping of singer Lady Gaga's dogs and the injury of a walker who miraculously survived a gunshot wound.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, three of the individuals identified as 18-year-old James Jackson, 19-year-old Jaylene White and 27-year-old Lafayette Whaley. They were charged with attempted murder, conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery in the second degree. Also 40-year-old Harold White and 50-year-old Jennifer McBride were charged with complicity.

McBride turned in the missing dogs after a reward for their safe return was announced, saying she found them tied up. LAPD revealed that she had a relationship with the father of one of the suspects, Harold White.

The motive behind the singer's abduction of the two French Bulldogs was initially thought to be criminal, as Jackson, Whaley and both White are members of one of the Los Angeles gangs. The breed of dog was a likely factor in the robbery, and the suspects did not specifically pursue Lady Gaga - they just wanted to cash in on the wealthy owners.

Her dog owner, Ryan Fisher, was shot in the chest and hospitalized after trying to stop the kidnappers. Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon called the incident "a blatant street crime in which a man was seriously injured."
