The International Football Federation (FIFA) will receive US $ 201 million in compensation for damages incurred as a result of the operation of global corruption schemes in the football world.
This is reported by the US Department of Justice, clarifying that it is about money withdrawn from the bank accounts of former high-ranking officials who participated in such schemes and were subsequently prosecuted for their violations.
Since the beginning of its investigation by the US Department of Justice in 2015, 50 individuals have been indicted on criminal charges. 27 individuals and four legal entities were found guilty. In many cases, the illegally obtained proceeds were confiscated.
