According to the research arm of the largest bank in the US, JP Morgan, about 13% of Americans invest in cryptocurrencies. This conclusion was made on the basis of a large sample - an analysis of the transactions of the bank's customers, when it came to the interaction of accounts of individuals in this credit institution and changes in the balance on digital wallets of these individuals. In two years, the proportion of Americans who invest in cryptocurrencies has grown by 10%, that is, it has increased significantly.

It is noted that for the most part, the amount of funds that were transferred to cryptocurrencies did not exceed the average monthly salary of a JP Morgan client, and the median value of the total volume of transactions per client was $620. At the same time, with an increase in the average income of a bank client, there was a tendency to increase the amount of funds invested in cryptocurrencies.

The highest frequency of transactions with cryptocurrencies was noted at the moment when the price of bitcoin was 43.9 thousand dollars.

Considering that the majority of investors prefer not to invest significant amounts in cryptocurrencies, JP Morgan analysts came to the conclusion that only a small part of those bank customers who invest in digital assets may suffer significant financial losses when the price of cryptocurrencies decreases.

The growing interest of retail investors in cryptocurrencies, in particular, in bitcoin, is also evidenced by fresh data from the research organization Glassnode. Compared to 2018, the number of bitcoins held by retail investors has doubled to almost 3 million BTC.
