These people are united by an interest in the changes at Twitter since Musk took over, and coverage of events related to the blocking of links leading to the resources of Twitter's main competitor, the open source social network Mastodon. Also blocked was the @ElonJet bot, which tracked all the movements of Elon Musk's private jet.
Journalists from leading American publications MSNBC, The New York Times, CNN, Mashable, Washington Post and others were blocked.
For example, former MSNBC host Keith Olbermann, Ryan Mack of The New York Times, Doni O'Sullivan of CNN, Matt Binder of Mashable, and journalist Aaron Rupar have all been banned from Twitter. Many of them highlighted the changes that Musk has made to the social network in recent months.
And Washington Post reporter Drew Harwell was blocked after writing about Mastodon being "kicked" off the platform.
