🎮 Nintendo Switch 2 Shines in Durability Tests, but Its Screen Is Vulnerable to Scratches

Nintendo Switch 2 Shines in Durability Tests

The Nintendo Switch 2 is proving to be impressively durable, surviving most physical stress tests with flying colors—except for one critical area: its screen. According to tech YouTuber JerryRigEverything, who specializes in testing the durability of new gadgets, Nintendo’s latest console holds up well under pressure, but users should be cautious with its display.

A Solid Build with One Weak Spot

In a recent video, JerryRigEverything put the Nintendo Switch 2 through a series of challenges typically reserved for smartphones. These included scratch tests, heat resistance, and flex tests focused on the updated Joy-Con 2 controllers.

The results were mostly positive. The console’s structure is solid, and the Joy-Con 2 controllers performed better than expected. Despite concerns over the use of thin plastic elements to secure the magnetic joysticks, the Joy-Cons held up under significant bending pressure. "If a large amount of force is applied, the Joy-Cons simply detach, which is actually a good thing," noted the YouTuber. "The bending angle doesn’t damage the internal pins, no matter how hard they disconnect or bend."

The Screen: A Soft Spot

However, the screen didn’t fare as well. Protected by a plastic film, it is highly prone to scratches. "You’ll quickly notice that Nintendo used a plastic screen. This is not ideal. As you can see with my keys, any metal object that touches the screen will leave marks," explained JerryRigEverything. The screen is safe from softer objects like plastic toys or docking components, but metal is a no-go.

Final Thoughts

Despite the screen's vulnerability, the overall build quality and durability of the Nintendo Switch 2 exceeded expectations. The Joy-Cons are robust, and the main unit feels solid and well-designed. "The Nintendo Switch 2 passed my durability test much better than I thought," concluded the YouTuber.

This review is a reassuring sign for potential buyers who might have concerns about the longevity of the console, especially given past issues with Joy-Con drift on the original Switch model. Just make sure to invest in a screen protector—because the only real weakness here is one you can easily fix.
