The International Football Federation (FIFA) has decided to cancel the World Youth Championships in 2021. As FIFA explained their position, measures were taken due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The message on the official website of the organization specifies that it is about the men's world football championship among players under 20 years old, which was supposed to be held in Indonesia, and about the men's world football championship among youth teams (age under 17 years old), which was preparing to host Peru.
"Due to the pandemic, the FIFA Council Bureau has decided to cancel the holding of the U20 and U17 Men's World Cup in 2021," the statement said. Indonesia and Peru will continue to host their respective tournaments in 2023.
