According to the scientific explanation, the constant rotation of the planet provokes the appearance of centrifugal force, as a result, it manifests itself much more strongly at the equator than at the poles themselves. As a result, a small flattening occurs, and the diameter that passes through the equator grows in size by 43 km. In addition to centrifugal force, the Earth is also affected by the mass, unevenly distributed over the surface, and gravitational anomalies.

Since ancient times, people have attributed to the planet a variety of shapes from a flat pancake to a uniform circle. However, these two theories are not accurate within the framework of modern science. Scientists clarify that due to all the above circumstances, the planet is an elongated ellipsoid.
