The analysis shows that older children, especially those with allergies or asthma, have a high chance of developing persistent symptoms of coronavirus that do not go away even a few months after recovery.

Some studies have reported people with symptoms such as fatigue, muscle weakness, and shortness of breath even six months after contracting severe acute respiratory syndrome caused by the coronavirus. These long-term effects are called long-term COVID syndrome.

Although children are at a lower risk of severe COVID-19, they still have a risk of developing long-term coronavirus. According to some reports, up to a third of hospitalized children required intensive care, and some children had multiple organ failure, requiring breathing support. Some children develop a serious condition a few weeks after recovery, called multisystem inflammatory syndrome.

Data on the long-term effects of severe COVID-19 in children is still limited to small studies. But they show that more than half of babies have at least one symptom that persists even after four months of infection.
