Is coronavirus dangerous for schoolchildren?

coronavirus dangerous for schoolchildren

To understand whether the new coronavirus pneumonia poses a danger to school-aged children, The Indianapolis Star offers to analyze statistics for just one single American state.

The newspaper writes that this week alone, the diagnosis of "COVID-19" was confirmed in 4321 students in the first to twelfth grades in Indiana, which is the highest figure since mid-September. In general, this semester, more than 50 thousand school-age children have already been infected with coronavirus pneumonia in the state.

Vaccination is already available for schoolchildren, but its level remains unsatisfactory. About 12% of children aged 5 to 11 are now vaccinated. For the age group from 12 to 15 years old, this figure is 40%, and for schoolchildren aged 16 to 19 years old - slightly more than 46%.
