FBI to conduct 500 arrests over attempted takeover of the US Capitol

The FBI has arrested more than 440 people on a number of charges related to the January 6 riots organized by supporters of then President Donald Trump at the US Capitol. However, the number of arrests could approach 500.

According to NBC News, in the four months since Trump supporters stormed the Capitol to prevent Congress from confirming Joe Biden's victory in the November elections, the FBI has launched the capture of riot participants in almost all states. And the hunt for suspects is far from over.

“We haven't finished catching the worst offenders yet,” FBI officials say. The bureau has posted hundreds of photographs of the suspects on its website and asked the public to help arrest those who were active in the riots that injured some 140 U.S. Capitol and Metropolitan Police officers.

So far, 60 of the more than 440 people arrested by the FBI have been charged with assaulting the police. The bureau also continues to offer a $ 100,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the home-made bombers at the Republican and Democratic National Committee headquarters in Washington on January 5. These devices did not work, but could have been installed in such a way as to distract the police from the Capitol.
